A bride will always be “the bride”‘  no matter what she wears. That day is hers. Many, like wearing white on their day but this fad is slowly changing. Mind you, I am not against white bridal gowns, they are beautiful but I personally feel our cultures offer us so much variety. Why wear white? The tradition of wearing white was started by Queen Victoria in the 1840, when she decided to wear one on her wedding day, and it spread far and beyond. There was, at that time no tradition of being married in white. I guess, to some it represents innocence, and others purity but there is nothing traditional about it. Why Traditional? Many immigrants tend to assimilate western trends (nothing wrong with it) but we should not forget our culture and identity. We should preserve our traditions and teach our children about them otherwise they become extinct! So, a wedding is the perfect time to do this. It’s an event, that brings family and friends together to share laughter and joy. It is an occasion, where loved ones are remembered, and bonds are made or remade. Showcase your culture and tradition by wearing a traditional bridal dress. Be proud of who you are no matter where you are coming from. I personally believe that we can keep a balance, by following new trends, yet promoting our culture and roots. Hey, have you seen the traditional Bridal Gowns with a Modern Tweak? I am so in love…
